Belltown French

Alley of the Week

This week's alley is only the next one north of last week's alley (Taste Italy). If you stare deeply into the center of this picture of it, taken from Vine, you may see the fountain in Fountain Court. The building here is the Montreux, possibly named for Montreux in French-speaking Switzerland, and definitely French-inspired.

You can see the French inspiration from within the alley, too. The grilled balconies are lovely, and I can squint and almost believe I'm in a French alley.

As of 2006 the condos here were selling in the ball park of $400 per square foot. Very affordable. Gee, why is anyone homeless?
