is about my excesses. I am a survivor of severe child abuse. I am sharing my past and present here, along with my loves and hates. It's a kind of payback. - Dr. Wes Browning

What a beautiful girl, what a proud dad. I'm so sorry, Wes.
I'm so sorry to hear about Beth's death. I was friends with hear in early college but we lost touch over the years. Condolences to you and your family.
I, too was friends with Beth for several years. She will be sorely missed. So much spunk, wit and personality. I'm so sorry for your loss...

Sir, I just wanted to send you my condolences on this very difficult day. I regret that I am unable to attend her services as I no longer live in the area. I just want to tell you that Beth was a light in my life. And I am SO thankful for the time that I spent knowing your daughter, and to have been graced with her in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today. This is such a tremendous loss to us all. Beth was such a special young woman, there is no one like her, truly one of a kind. I will cherish her memory in my heart always, and forever be thankful to have known this beautiful, bright, adorable, funny, tough, unique person.
Sincerely,
Joan Hunter Iovino
Thank you all for your comments. I was never able to know how others saw her, I only heard from her and through her and not directly from her friends. It is deeply reassuring to know how many other people loved her as much as I did, and enriched her with their love.
Wes,
I knew her Beth early college as well - we were both part of the same tight knit social circle, so I saw her every day in between classes, and we saw each other frequently off campus. We'd even vacationed together once in Ocean City in the summer of 2000. Beth and I hadn't seen much of each other in the last six years since I had moved to Baltimore, and with the distance, we just grew apart. I did ask about her often however, since I was still close with Pat and Carlos. The last I had heard was that she was going into the Marine corps. We were all so proud of her - my boyfriend is a Marine and we were on our way to the Marine Corps Ball when I spoke with Carlos, which is what prompted Carlos to tell me. Assuming that she had already gone through boot camp, and knowing that she was still in the area, I went through the party looking for her, just in case she was there.
Beth was a vibrant spirit who never compromised her beliefs; a strong woman with a sharp wit that was also to be admired. I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Know that she was well loved and that she will be missed. She left an indelible mark on the world and in our hearts.
