Pete Seeger on War

Video Find of the Day

In recognition of the coming 5th anniversary of George Bush Jr's illegal invasion of a country, let's see Pete Seeger sing about the stupid following the stupid. The Big Muddy song is the last 3 minutes of this 7 minute video, but the first 4 minutes aren't irrelevant.

The More Things Change...

Video Find of the Day

The poster says this one is from 1969. I don't remember David Steinberg hosting anything like this in 1969. I would have guessed this was '71 or '72. But it may have been in '69 and I missed it -- there was a lot going on.

History Lesson

Video Find of the Day

Watching this next video, what you have to understand, is, the attitude toward the subject (war in Vietnam) expressed by the narrator, is that of the general public at large, as of the time the newsreel was made, in 1967.

Watching this second video, what you have to understand, is, the attitude toward the subject (war in Vietnam) expressed by the singer, is NOT that of the general public at large, as of the time the concert (Woodstock) occurred, HOWEVER, what we know, is, people in general came around to it soon after.

So, comparing the two videos, representing the before and after attitudes, we learn that general attitudes can wheel about like a Chinese dragon with a tooth-ache. Let this inspire hope.
