Ukuleles!

Video Find of the Day

I first found these people because YouTube thought I'd like their rendition of the Theme from Shaft. Not really, just because the sound is not too good and my speakers are weak, but someone else might enjoy that. This one though, is a hoot. They also do a nice Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Hawaiian Weird

Video Find of the Day

The sort of thing my friend Lani despised, this also comes close to depicting my parents' fantasy of Hawaiian Native music and culture. To me it looks and sounds a little creepy, but anyone who knows me knows creepy by itself doesn't repel me.

Cadences

Video Find(s) of the Day

Here's a couple of the videos I found when I was looking for military cadences. The first is a US Army Ranger song that clearly has been influenced by over-exposure to Elvis impersonators. But it's still Super-Duper!

This next one is a cool medley by a guy accompanying himself with guitar so it's more melodious than usual. Also well enunciated. I love the bit about Superman. Posting it here is in no way an endorsement of his ask for monetary donations. I don't think that's allowed on Blogger. Just listen to his pitch and if you have to send him a dollar that's your own disease. Honestly, I'd send him one, but I'm way too poor.

KLEZMER SCHLEZMER!

Video Find of the Day

Here's one of the first video providers on YouTube that I subscribed to. What we have here is a guy living somewhere in the vicinity of Manchester, UK, who has taught himself banjo, guitar, fiddle, lyre, etc., and plays Klezmer, traditional Irish, traditional Norwegian music, in Hillbilly, and/or Heavy Metal Style. In what appears to be his bedroom. For YouTube. How can anyone not love that?

You may want to protect your ears by turning the volume down.
